PÓST IED Avant Défilé 2021
Performance by the young dancers of Accademia Kataklò
Thirteen selected students of Accademia Kataklò animate eleven thesis collections of IED 2020/2021 Fashion Design graduates in a video performance presented at Milano Moda Uomo.
PÓST IED Avant Défilé is a fashion film that celebrates the meeting of fashion and dance against the backdrop of a Milan rising from the pandemic. Giulia Staccioli and Vito Cassano direct the movements of the young dancers of Accademia Kataklò, the protagonists of the video, enhancing the 11 fashion collections with athleticism and expressiveness.
“Overcoming the démodé concept of ethereal and unattainable beauty, dance offers fashion a material and communicative three-dimensionality, always magnetic and effective because it is never the same as itself,” argues Giulia Staccioli, director and founder of Accademia Kataklò, as well as the soul of the renowned Kataklò Athletic Dance Theatre company: “When a dress comes into contact with a dancer’s body, the temple and instrument of his art, it comes alive, becomes an extension of his muscles, his movement, his communicative message. Become the partner to dance with, the companion to enhance“.
Artistic direction is by Olivia Spinelli, direction by Nicola Garzetti. Seven are the places of culture and aggregation chosen to be animated by the performances: the Gianni Brera Civic Arena, the Bagni Misteriosi and Franco Parenti Theater, the Circolo Arci Bellezza, the DanceHaus Susanna Beltrami academy, the Cozzi Pool – Milanosport, and the Chiesa Rossa Library – Milan Library System. These are spaces on which the pandemic had a major impact and which now become symbols of a rebirth, playing a role of great inspiration for the two choreographers leading the performers.
